We are so pleased to share the great news with our members that Dr. Carl Lee, a lifetime member of ICSA, Professor of Statistics, and Director, Data Mining/Analytics program in the Department of Mathematics, Central Michigan University (CMU), received the prestigious 2019 Deborah and Franklin Tepper Haimo Award awarded by the Mathematical Association of America (MAA). The award is given to no more than three instructors each year in USA and Canada for Distinguished College or University Teaching of Mathematics in order to honor college or university teachers who have been widely recognized as extraordinarily successful and whose teaching effectiveness has been shown to have had influence beyond their own institutions. Congratulations, Dr. Lee, on having been recognized for his outstanding contributions to teaching and learning in the mathematical sciences and particularly in statistics.
Since MAA started giving this award in 1991, there were only four statisticians received this award from MAA (Robert Hogg, David Moore, Alan Rossman, and Carl Lee).
